CAROL ROWLAND
I was born in the North of England and spent a lot of my childhood holidays in the Yorkshire Dales, with the moors stretching as far as you could see. I now live between Dartmoor and Exmoor and am once again surrounded by moors. I can often get lost while painting a landscape, wondering what might be around the corner or over the distant hill.

My first introduction to Encaustic Art was by a French Canadian in 1985. I was fascinated by the technique of painting with an iron. In 1996 while studying for City and Guilds Patchwork and Quilting (part 1 and 2), I decided to try out the technique as part of my experimental use of mixed media. I continued as a textile artist with encaustic as a hobby. Due to demand, Encaustic Art has become my main work. The artwork I produce is mainly used for my greetings cards. I also make encaustic earrings.

I still enjoy experimenting with other mixed media art.
